Roadtrip from Buffalo to Houston: Exploring America's Heartland

Looking for a fun road trip with plenty of sights and adventure? Why not head from Buffalo, New York all the way down to Houston, Texas! With a plethora of beautiful cities, scenic routes, and delicious food options, this trip is one for the books. So, buckle up, grab your favorite snacks, and get ready to hit the road for an unforgettable trip!

Option 1: The Scenic Route

If time is on your side and you don't mind taking the long way round, then this route is for you! Start off by heading to Cleveland, Ohio, just about a two-hour drive from Buffalo. From there, weave south through Columbus, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Oklahoma City. Finally, you'll reach Houston!

The total distance for this route is approximately 1,500 miles, and can take about 23 hours without any major stops, but we definitely recommend taking some breaks along the way. Indianapolis is home to the Indy 500, St Louis has the iconic Gateway Arch and Oklahoma City is rich in cowboy culture.

Option 2: The Straight Shot

If you're looking for the quickest way to get to Houston, then take I-90 West all the way to Chicago, then take I-55 South straight down through Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana until you hit Houston.

This route is about 1,400 miles and takes around 20 hours, but again, we encourage you to ever so slightly stray from the straight and narrow. In Chicago, visit the Navy Pier or grab a slice of deep dish pizza. In Missouri, visit the Gateway to the West Arch or take a detour to Ozark National Forest. Whatever you choose, make this trip unique and tailor it to your preferences.

Option 3: The Southern Route

If you're looking to take things slow, winding your way through mountainous terrain and small towns, then starting off on US-285 South towards Ellsworth, Kansas is right up your alley. Drive south through Tulsa, Oklahoma and then cut east towards Little Rock, Arkansas. Finally, take I-40 West to Oklahoma City and cut down to Houston.

This route is approximately 1,600 miles and takes about 23 hours to reach Houston. But don't forget to stop in Tulsa for some amazing barbecue or Little Rock for some great beer. And if your feeling adventurous try the famous Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas for a 72 oz steak!

Conclusion

Whether you're looking for a straight shot down, a scenic adventure, or a southern drive, you'll find plenty of sights to see and easy going roads to drive. But no matter which route you choose, take time to appreciate the beautiful and historic sights that America's Heartland has to offer. Happy road tripping!
