Road Tripping from Castroville to Universal City: The Best Routes to Take

From Bandera, continue on TX-16 North and enjoy the picturesque drive through Texas Hill Country until you reach TX-46 East. Take a left and follow TX-46 East for around 25 miles until you reach I-35 North. From there, it’s just a short drive to Universal City.

The Family-Friendly Route
If you’re travelling with kids and want to keep them entertained on the road, why not take a detour to New Braunfels, a charming town known for its water parks and family-friendly attractions. Take I-10 East out of Castroville and follow it for around 26 miles until you reach New Braunfels.
Here you can stop off at Schlitterbahn Waterpark, Gruene Hall (the oldest dance hall in Texas), or spend some time exploring Landa Park. From New Braunfels, hop back on I-35 North and continue for around 13 miles until you reach Universal City.

The Foodie Route
Foodies will love the chance to stop off at some of the amazing eateries along the way to Universal City. One option is to take TX-16 North out of Castroville and follow it to Kerrville, where you can stop off at the famous Crider’s Rodeo and Dancehall for some live music and good old-fashioned Texas BBQ.
From there, take TX-27 East and follow it for around 30 miles until you reach I-35 North. Along the way, you’ll pass through some small towns and villages where you can sample some of the best Tex-Mex cuisine in the state.
