Take the A368 which is a winding road through the beautiful Mendip Hills. This route will take you through quaint village scenery and picturesque English countryside. Turn left onto the Old Bristol Road, and continue onto the B3114 until you reach the A361. Follow this road to Frome, then continue onto South Somerset. This route covers a distance of 50 miles and will take around 1.5 hours by car.
C3 - The Countryside Route
If you're looking to get off the beaten path, this is the route for you. Take the A37 south from Bristol until you reach Shepton Mallet. From there, take the B3136 and enjoy the beautiful rolling countryside views. This is a longer route and covers a distance of 48 miles, but it will take you through the lesser-known but stunning Somerset countryside. This route will take around 1.5 hours by car.
D4 - The Quaint Villages Route
For a route that will take you through charming English villages, take the A37 south towards Shepton Mallet. Head towards Castle Cary on the A359 and take a right onto the B3153 after a few miles. From there, continue on through the small villages of North Cadbury and Queen Camel, before arriving in South Somerset. This route covers a distance of 35 miles and will take around 1 hour by car.
E5 - The Historical Route
If you're looking to add a bit of history to your journey, we recommend this route. Head south from Bristol on the A37 towards Shepton Mallet. From there, take the A371 towards Castle Cary, passing by the splendid ruins of the 14th-century Nunney Castle. Continue towards South Somerset on the A359, which will take you through the charming town of Bruton. This route covers a distance of 41 miles and will take around 1.5 hours by car.
F6 - The Culinary Route
For those who love good food and drinks, this is the route for you. Take the A37 south from Bristol, then turn onto the B3135 towards Wells. Stop in the small village of Cheddar to taste the world-famous cheese, and continue towards the charming town of Bruton, known for its foodie hotspots. From there, head towards South Somerset on the A359. This route covers a distance of 46 miles and will take around 1.5 hours by car.
