If you're looking for the quickest way to get to Washington, head straight down Route 72. This route is about 21 miles long and takes about 35 minutes to drive. While there are no major attractions along this route, it's a great way to get to your destination quickly.

The Back Roads Route

If you're looking for a more leisurely drive, take the back roads. Head south on Route 69 until you reach Route 118, then make a left. Take Route 118 all the way to Washington, which is about 21 miles away. This route will take you through some charming Connecticut towns like Harwinton and Litchfield. The driving time is approximately 50 minutes. While you're driving through Litchfield, make sure to stop at Arethusa Farm Dairy for some ice cream or to check out the Litchfield Historical Society.

The Highway Route

If you're in a rush and want to avoid traffic lights, take the highway. Head south on Route 72 until you reach Route 8 south. Take that until you hit exit 39B, which will put you on Route 4. Follow that for about 2 miles until you reach Washington. This route is approximately 25 miles long and takes about 35 minutes to drive. While there's not much to see along this route, it's a quick way to get to your destination.

No matter which route you choose, make sure to take breaks along the way. Connecticut has some beautiful parks and hiking trails, so consider stopping to stretch your legs.
