How to Get from Bristol to Groton: A Guide to Travel Times and Routes

If you want to avoid some of the traffic on I-91 and I-95, consider taking CT-9 south instead. Take Route 72 east until you reach the exit for CT-9 south. Follow CT-9 south for about 18 miles until you reach I-95 south. Then follow I-95 south for about 34 miles until you reach your destination.
This route may take a bit longer than the first, but it has the benefit of being slightly less congested during peak travel times.
Route 6 to I-395 South to I-95 North (Distance: 68 miles, Time: 1 hour 30 minutes)
For a more scenic drive, consider taking Route 6. From Bristol, take Route 6 east until you reach I-395 south. Follow I-395 south for about 15 miles until you merge onto I-95 north. Follow I-95 north for about 38 miles until you reach Groton.
This route is a great option if you want to take your time and enjoy the scenery along the way. Since it’s a bit less traveled than the other routes, there is less congestion and fewer chances of traffic.
