Route 3: The Mountainous Route

For those looking to experience the full majesty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Route 3 is the way to go. Beginning in Breckenridge, take CO-9 South towards Fairplay, then turn onto US-285 North. Follow this road until you reach Kenosha Pass, a stunning mountainous area known for its changing foliage during autumn. From there, take US-24 East towards Colorado Springs. While the distance is the longest option at approximately 135 miles, the view of the mountains and valleys is well worth the extra driving time of about three and a half hours.
