This route begins the same as Route 1, taking I-95 N to I-695 W before following the same path up to Binghamton on I-81 N. However, instead of taking I-88 W, you'll exit onto I-90 W and travel along the Massachusetts Turnpike to Charlemont.

This route is slightly shorter and more direct, but there are fewer attractions along the way. If you do have time for a detour, consider stopping at Niagara Falls along the US-219.

Route 3: US-29 N and I-78 E

Distance: 335 miles

Travel Time: 6 hours, 30 minutes

This route takes you out of the city and through more rural areas. From Bowie, you'll take US-29 N to I-70 W and then follow I-78 E towards Allentown. Once you've arrived at Allentown, you'll take I-476 N to Scranton before getting onto I-81 N to Binghamton. From there, you'll take the same path as Route 1 to Charlemont.

If you're looking for some small-town charm, consider stopping in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to see the historic downtown or the SteelStacks Arts and Cultural Center.
