From there, take Route 3A south and follow the signs to Route 3 south. Once you reach Plymouth, you follow the signs for Route 6 as you cross the Sagamore Bridge towards Cape Cod. You pass through the quaint little towns of Cape Cod, and the bridge that connects it to the mainland, the Bourne Bridge. After crossing the Bourne Bridge, follow signs for I-195 east, which will take you to US Route 6 East to South Kingstown. Along the way, stop off at some of Cape Cod’s impressive beaches or explore the quaint little boutiques and restaurants in the Hyannis Port village.

The North Shore and Coastal Route

Distance: 90 miles Travel Time: 2 hours

This scenic route along the North Shore is perfect for when you have plenty of time to enjoy the journey. Starting from Boston, take I-93 north. When you reach I-95, continue north, passing through the historic towns of Salem, home of the famed Witch Trials; Ipswich, famous for their fried clams; and Newburyport, with its charming waterfront. Once you reach Amesbury, head south onto the scenic Ocean Boulevard. This road follows the coast, passing through the beautiful towns of Salisbury and Newport, both of which are well known for endless dining options, fantastic shopping opportunities, and seasonal activities.
