Driving Takes the Cake
Driving is undoubtedly the quickest way to make the journey between Boonton and Metuchen. With a total driving distance of 35 miles, the route takes approximately 45 minutes - depending on traffic, and assuming you're obeying all speed limits.
From Boonton, hop onto Route 287 and head South towards Route 24 East. After about 7 miles, take Exit 1A onto the Garden State Parkway South. After about 10 miles, exit onto Route 27 towards Metuchen. From there, you'll be in downtown Metuchen in no time!
Public Transport
If you prefer public transportation, a combination of trains and buses can take you from Boonton to Metuchen. The journey requires a train change in Newark, so the overall travel time might vary.
Take the NJ Transit Montclair Boonton line to the Newark Broad Street Station. Transfer to the Northeast Corridor line which will take you to Metuchen Station. After exiting the station, walk for about 15 minutes to reach downtown Metuchen. But be warned: this option is not particularly quick with an overall travel time of about 90 minutes.

We recommend taking Boonton's Heritage Trail, which takes you through beautiful woods and creeks. After reaching Parsippany, ride on Route 10 East for about 10miles. From there, take Grove Avenue, and you'll be in downtown Metuchen. The ride is about 31 miles and takes around 3 hours. But remember, make sure to carry water and snacks for the journey!
