Bonney Lake to SeaTac: The Drive Worth Taking

If you're planning a trip from Bonney Lake to SeaTac, the travel time and route are something you should consider. Lucky for you, we're here to help. Here's a breakdown of the different routes, the distance of each route, and the expected travel time.

The Straight Shot

First, let's go over the most direct route. The distance between Bonney Lake and SeaTac is approximately 27 miles. You can start by taking SR-410 East, take a slight left onto 204th Ave SE, and turn right onto SE 416th St/SE Orchard Dr. Follow it until you can take a left onto WA-164 West, then merge onto WA-167 North toward Renton.

This drive takes approximately 40-45 minutes and is equivalent to a drive time of 27 miles. Though it is the shortest route, we still recommend taking some pit stops! Nature lovers should check out the beautiful Lake Tapps, which is just a few miles off your route. Additionally, if you’re up for a little adventure, try checking out the Wild Waves Theme & Water Park for some fun-filled memories.

The Lake Tapps Route

Next up, is the Lake Tapps route. Similarly, start off at SR-410 East, but instead of taking the slight left mentioned before, continue on to Sumner Tapps Hwy E. Once you reach the lake, take a right onto W Tapps Dr E, follow it around the lake until you can take a left onto Valley Ave E. From then on, just simply turn right onto WA-167 North towards Renton.

This route is approximately 29.9 miles long and takes around 50-60 minutes to drive. Though it’s only a slight detour, make sure to take advantage of Lake Tapps Park. There are plenty of picnic areas and even a lakefront beach.

The Tacoma-Seattle Route

Finally, for a different experience, we recommend the Tacoma-Seattle route. On this route, you’ll start by heading onto SR-410 East but instead take the exit to I-5 North towards Seattle. Continue on I-5 North, take exit 154B towards Sea-Tac Airport. Once you reach the exit, keep right on S 188th St, turn left on International Blvd, then right on S 176th St.

This drive is approximately 38.3 miles long and could take 50-60 minutes. Besides frequent congestion on I-5, this route can give visitors a brief tour of both Tacoma and Seattle. Stop off and catch a game at Safeco Field or explore the famous Space Needle.

With a variety of routes and beautiful sights to see, the trip from Bonney Lake to SeaTac is an adventure worth taking. Whether you want to take things slow and scenic with the Lake Tapps route or learn about the history and culture of the area with the Tacoma-Seattle route, driving to SeaTac won’t disappoint.
