This route stretches 1,420 miles and will take you approximately 22 hours on the I-95N, I-26W, I-77N, and I-81N highways. We recommend you bring some snacks, and take frequent breaks to stay energized and attentive.

Along the way, there are several notable places to stop and stretch your legs. In Savannah, GA, the historic district will provide a setting for a beautiful walk. In Asheville, NC, The Biltmore Estate is a popular landmark that is worth visiting. Lastly, in Staunton, VA, the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum provides an educational opportunity to learn more about an important American figure.

The Scenic Route

For a more scenic drive, we recommend taking the I-95N to the I-26W in South Carolina, then taking the I-25 and the I-91 towards Vermont. This route is approximately 1,480 miles long and takes around 24 hours to complete. Along the way, you will experience some of the country's most beautiful views.

Along the route, we recommend stopping in Charleston, SC, and exploring the historic downtown area and beautiful water views. In Virginia, you can stop in Roanoke to take a stroll at the mill mountain star that offers breathtaking views of the valley. Once in Vermont, a stop at the Ben & Jerry's factory located in Waterbury is a must for their delicious ice cream.

The Budget-Friendly Route

If you're traveling on a budget and don't want to pay tolls, we suggest taking the US-301N and the US-13N from Florida to Virginia. Once in Virginia, take the I-64W, I-81N, and US-11N towards Castleton. This route is approximately 1,360 miles long and will take approximately 22 hours.

There is plenty to explore along this route, including historic Williamsburg, VA, and the Natural Bridge State Park in Virginia. In New Market, VA, the New Market Battlefield Site offers insight into one of the Civil War's battles.

The Fly Option

If you want a quick trip, flying is always an option. There are several flights every day from Fort Myers and Naples from the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) to Burlington International Airport (BTV) in Vermont. The flight time is approximately 4 hours, and there are multiple airlines that offer this route.

Once you reach Burlington, some recommended attractions to visit include Lake Champlain, the Shelburne Museum, and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory.
