Driving Time from Bonheiden to Tienen: Which Route is Best?

If you're looking for a scenic drive through Belgium, look no further than the route from Bonheiden, Antwerpen, to Tienen, Vlaams-Brabant. But with multiple ways to get there, which route should you take? And how long will it take you? We've done the research so you don't have to.

The Fastest Route

If speed is your top priority, take the E19 and E40 highways. This route is the fastest, clocking in at around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. At 50 km, it's the shortest route as well. Keep in mind, though, that this route can get congested during peak traffic hours. If you're driving during rush hour, expect the drive to take closer to an hour.

The Scenic Route

If you're more interested in enjoying the view, we recommend taking the E19 and N26. This route adds a few minutes (around 10-15) to your drive time, but offers beautiful views of the Belgian countryside. Plus, it's still faster than some of the other options, with an average drive time of an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes.

The Slow Route

If you're not in a rush and want to take your time, consider taking the N227. At a whopping 62 km, it's the longest route. However, it's also the most scenic, taking you through small towns and countryside. Expect to add around 15-20 minutes to your drive time, bringing the total to around an hour and a half.

When to Avoid Rush Hour

If you're driving during rush hour, you can expect to add at least 30 minutes to your total drive time regardless of which route you take. To avoid the worst of the traffic, consider leaving before 7 a.m. or after 9 a.m. during the morning commute and before 4 p.m. or after 6 p.m. during the evening commute.

The Bottom Line

So which route is the best for you? If speed is your top priority, stick to the E19 and E40 highways. If you're more interested in a scenic drive, take the N227. And if you're somewhere in between, the E19 and N26 are your best bet. No matter which route you choose, though, expect to spend around an hour on the road. Happy driving!
