ROAD TRIP: BONANZA TO NEWPORT
Are you ready for a road trip? The distance between Bonanza and Newport may seem daunting, but fear not! There are plenty of scenic routes and fun places to stop along the way. Read on for our recommendations and estimated driving times.
ROUTE 1: VIA US-97S AND US-20W (315 miles, approximately 6 hours)
This route takes you through beautiful national forests and charming small towns. Start on US-97S and continue on until you reach US-20W. Along the way, you'll pass through towns like Klamath Falls and Sisters.
Our recommendation for a pit-stop: Crater Lake National Park. Take a short detour off US-97S and you'll find yourself at one of the most stunning places in the country. The deep blue water of Crater Lake is a sight to behold.
ROUTE 2: VIA I-5S AND OR-18W (208 miles, approximately 4 hours)
This route sticks to the interstate for a quicker journey. Start on I-5S and continue until you reach OR-18W. This road takes you straight to Newport.
Our recommendation for a pit-stop: The Enchanted Forest. A fun, family-friendly theme park just outside of Salem. Take a break from the drive and enjoy some rides and attractions.
ROUTE 3: VIA US-97S AND OR-58W (314 miles, approximately 6 hours)
This route takes you through the Cascade Mountains. Start on US-97S and continue until you reach OR-58W. You'll pass through towns like Oakridge and Lowell.
Our recommendation for a pit-stop: Salt Creek Falls. A stunning waterfall just off of OR-58W. Take a short hike to the falls and marvel at the natural beauty.
