The Great Ohio to Tennessee Adventure: A Guide to Your Route Options
Are you planning a road trip from Boardman, Ohio to Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee? While it's only about a five-hour drive, the route you decide to take can make all the difference in your journey. Here are some of the routes you can take and what you'll need to know about each one.
Route 1: The direct route
Distance: 446 miles Time: approximately 7 hours and 10 minutes
The most direct route is taking I-71S and I-65S. Although it's a simple drive with the least number of turns and stops, it takes longer than other options due to the distance. If you're in a rush, this is your best option, but we definitely recommend some fun stops to break up the drive!
Route 2: The Scenic Route
Distance: 535 miles Time: approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes
If you're looking for a more scenic route down to Tennessee, we suggest taking I-77S and I-81S. Although it adds about 100 miles to your drive, you'll be treated to rolling green hills and stunning views. This route also has plenty of interesting towns and cities to enjoy.
Route 3: The Foodie Route
Distance: 489 miles Time: approximately 8 hours
If you're a foodie looking for some delicious eats on your drive down to Nashville-Davidson, then taking I-75S and stopping in Lexington and Knoxville might be your best bet. Lexington has a reputation for incredible bourbon and horse racing, while Knoxville has a mix of southern comfort food and international eats.
Route 4: The Historic Route
Distance: 540 miles Time: approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes
If you're interested in US history, then use this route as an opportunity to stop and learn by taking I-70W and I-40W. Stop in Columbus and check out the Ohio Statehouse. After a 4.5-hour drive down I-70W, you'll find yourself in downtown Indianapolis with other landmarks like the Indiana War Memorial and the Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway Museum. Then, use I-65S and take your time checking out monuments in Louisville, Kentucky before stopping in Nashville-Davidson.
Route 5: The Music Lover's Route
Distance: 502 miles Time: approximately 8 hours
Looking to get your country music fix? Take this route by driving I-71S to Cincinnati, and then picking up I-65S all the way to Music City. Here, you can make stops at legendary music venues like Memorial Auditorium, Ryman Auditorium, and the Grand Ole Opry House.
No matter which route you decide to take, make sure to make the most of it! There are plenty of cities and towns to visit on your way, so plan for a few rest stops to break up the driving time.
