"From Mountains to Suburbs: Exploring Georgia's Scenic Routes to Stockbridge"
Welcome to Georgia, where the scenic routes are aplenty! One of our favorite trips is the journey from Blue Ridge to Stockbridge. Whether you're a city slicker or a country bumpkin, you're bound to find something to love on this five-hour drive. Here are some route options to make your travels even more enjoyable:
The Fastest Route: I-75S
Distance: 120 miles Time: Approximately 2 hours
The fastest and most direct way to reach Stockbridge is via I-75 South, which takes you through the heart of Atlanta. While this route lacks the charm of the back roads, it's ideal for travelers who want to avoid traffic and get to their destination quickly. If you're short on time, we recommend taking this route.
The Scenic Route: US-19S and GA-18E
Distance: 180 miles Time: Approximately 4 hours
For those who want to enjoy the scenery along the way, we suggest taking US-19 South towards Macon and then taking GA-18 East to Stockbridge. This route will take you through quaint towns, charming countryside, and beautiful forests. We recommend stopping at the Ocmulgee National Monument just outside of Macon for a scenic hike and some history lessons.
The Back Road Route: GA-515S and GA-20W
Distance: 170 miles Time: Approximately 4 hours
If you're looking for a true country road experience, then taking GA-515 South and GA-20 West is the way to go. You'll drive through small towns, rolling hills, and scenic farmland. We recommend stopping at Gibbs Gardens in Ball Ground for some beautiful botanical gardens and a peaceful break from the road.
The Scenic Shortcut: GA-136W and GA-9S
Distance: 135 miles Time: Approximately 3 hours
For travelers who want to take a shortcut that's still scenic, we suggest taking GA-136 West to Jasper and then following GA-9 South to Stockbridge. This route takes you through the North Georgia Mountains and past Lake Lanier. We recommend stopping at Amicalola Falls State Park for a short hike to see the stunning waterfall.
No matter which route you choose, remember to take your time and enjoy the sights along the way. And if you need some extra recommendations, feel free to ask the friendly locals! Safe travels!
