The Wild Drive: Blackwell to Dibble
Almost everyone loves a road trip, and traveling from Blackwell, Oklahoma to Dibble, Oklahoma is one of those drives you can’t miss. Whether it’s a fantastic time with friends, or enjoying the freedom of driving, this journey has something for everyone. In this article, we will explore the different routes, distance, and time it takes to travel between these two towns.
The Fastest Route
If you're in a hurry, taking the fastest route is the best option, and that means taking I-35 South. This drive covers approximately 120 miles, and it will take you about 2 hours to complete the journey. The stretch of highway between these two towns is well developed, so you don't have to worry about road inconveniences.
The Scenic Route
If you’re a fan of exploring off the beaten track, we recommend taking Route 177 instead of I-35. While it takes a little longer to get to Dibble and is approximately 140 miles, it’s entirely worth it! This route winds down alongside several picturesque farmlands, small towns, and open prairies. We recommend breaking up the journey with stops in the small towns of Stillwater and Noble for beautiful views, food, and historical buildings.
The Quicker Scenic Route
For those who don't want to spend too much time on the road but still desire a scenic drive, a portion of Route 177 is combined with I-35, creating an alternative to the fastest route. From Blackwell, take Route 11 to Route 177. This will take you through historically significant towns, like Marland and Ponca City. You can then switch to I-35 at the midway point of the drive. This route is roughly 130 miles, and it'll take you about two and a half hours to get to Dibble.
The Prehistoric Route
For a unique driving experience, we recommend taking Route 77 South to Route 74 West. This route is longer, coming in at roughly 150 miles and taking three hours to complete, but it’s worth it! When you take this route, you'll pass an abundance of roadside attractions, including fossils, museums, and dinosaur exhibits. It's also worth visiting SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology in OKC for a fun and educational stop.
The Fun Route
To get the most out of your road trip from Blackwell to Dibble, you may want to incorporate some fun roadside stops along the way. The most notable spot, hands down, must be Turner Falls Park, located on Route 77 South. It's one of the most beautiful state parks in Oklahoma, and the views will leave you breathless.
Regardless of the route, you decide to take, the best way to enjoy this journey is to take your time and enjoy everything it has to offer. However, we do advise checking local weather conditions and traffic updates, especially if you're traveling during peak season. So, buckle up, keep safe, and enjoy the drive!
