This route is slightly shorter in distance but takes a little longer to drive due to traffic and the number of states you pass through. Along the way, stop in Richmond, Virginia, and check out the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Route 3: I-81 N to I-78 E

Distance: 660 miles Travel Time: Approximately 10 hours

This route takes you through Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Make a quick stop in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and try their famous Hershey’s Chocolate Milkshake. Continue on to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and snap a photo for the ‘gram.

Route 4: I-295 N to I-95 N

Distance: 660 miles Travel Time: Approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes

This route is the shortest in distance but takes the longest in driving time because of traffic. You’ll travel through Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Along the way, make a stop in Washington D.C. and visit the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
