Big Sky to Torrance: A Road Trip Adventure

Are you planning a road trip from the beautiful Big Sky, Montana to sunny Torrance, California? You're in for a treat! Whether you're a seasoned road warrior or a rookie traveler, there are plenty of routes and adventures to be had along the way.

The Straight Shot: Fast but Boring

If you're in a rush and just want to get there, the most direct route will take you south on I-15 until you hit the I-10, which will take you all the way to Torrance. This route is a little over 1,200 miles, and will take approximately 18 hours of driving. While it's fast, it can also be monotonous, with hours and hours of desert and concrete. That being said, there are some hidden gems along the way. Stop at the Seven Magic Mountains, a colorful art installation, just off the I-15 near Las Vegas.

A Scenic Detour: Beauty and Adventure

If you're not in a rush, why not take a more scenic route? Head west on US-12 from Big Sky until you hit the I-90, which will take you through parts of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. This route is about 1650 miles and will take you around 28 hours of driving. But it's worth it! You'll drive through areas of stunning natural beauty, including the Columbia River Gorge, Crater Lake National Park, and the Redwood Forest. If you're a fan of roadside attractions, stop at Confusion Hill in California for a gravity-defying experience.

A Southern Detour: Food and Culture

If you're looking to add some cultural experiences to your trip, take a detour to the south. From Big Sky head south on US-191 until you hit I-80. Follow I-80 until you reach Salt Lake City, which has a lot to offer in terms of food and culture. Take some time to enjoy local Utah cuisine or visit the Mormon Temple. From Salt Lake City, continue south on I-15 until you hit Las Vegas, where you can hit the strip for some entertainment and nightlife. From there, continue on I-15 until you hit the I-10, which will take you the rest of the way to Torrance. This route is about 1,900 miles and will take approximately 30 hours to drive.

No matter which route you choose, be sure to take your time and explore along the way. You'll encounter unique food, friendly people, and beautiful scenery. Safe travels!
